July four in USA

This was my first celebration of the independence day in a different country than mine. In the morning, I went for shopping with my boyfriend to Lenox mall. Fortunately, there were a lot of discounts and offers in all the stores, so we had a good time because we could buy many clothes, jewels, eyeglasses and another things that we were needing. That fact was very surprising for us, because in our country, stores or malls , never do special discounts or activities in july 20, which is our independence day. After that, we were outside the mall, and in the parking there were a lot of people waiting for the show of some musicians and there were many people sending lemonade, hot dogs, beer and other kind of sweets and foods. As we have a lot of bags, we decided to go home and take a rest, but at six in the evening, we went to the Centenial park because we wanted to see the fireworks. The park was full of people when we arrived, so we had to look for a small space in the grass in a place a little far from the center. I had never had a pinic in a public park. The families close to us, had chairs, baskets of foods, small tables and everything that they needed to be comfortable. We did not have nothing for a picnic, but we bougth some pizza and sodas and we had a good picnic too. Finally the fireworks appear, it was nine thirty when the show began. We had never seen an spectacle of lights in the heaven so beautiful and so perfect. In our country, the fireworks are prohibit in order to protect the health of people, specially the children. We really had a great day, and we admire the form which American people loves their country and celebrate in a big party their independence day.

My hometown

My lovely home is in Bogota, Colombia and it is nice and very comfortable to live there. Bogota is the biggest city in Colombia and is located in the top of a mountain. As it is more or less 3000 meters up the level of the sea, the city usually is cold, but the view around the city is pretty amazing. Bogota is an urban paradise. Every day, you can see the city full of people walking trough the streets, buildings and shopping malls, as the city is the most important in the country, we receive hundreds of people from different regions of Colombia and from all of the other countries too. The life in Bogota is very comfortable, because the city has all that every one could need or desire: beautifull and modern buildings, luxurious spas and hotels, parks, lakes and is the place where the best restaurants of national and international food are present. Bogota is not only a mass of people and builds, the diversity in my city is incredible. If you like the nature, in the north part of the city you can find long extensions of grass, trees an all kind of animals and flowers, specially the Orchids which are our most representative flowers. Among the roads you can stop, take a rest, look at the incredible view and taste one of our traditional plates called " Ajiaco ", or a delicous hot chocolate with cheese and "empanadas". Bogota is my favorite city. I know, I have to know many other cities in this big world, but like people in my country says: Bogota is 3000 meter closer to the stars .

My first day in the Airport

The first day i came to Atlanta i had a hard time in the airport. I had never been in an airport as big as Atlanta's Airport and many things happened before i was be able to come to the exit. First, my baggage was so big that i had some problems to pick up it and then ,to walk with it from one place to another. My boyfriend, who cames with me, was stopped for almost thirty minutes, trying to explain why he will be in this city for a long time with a tourist visa and due to this , i had to pass all the way alone and worried by him. By fortune he could go in, but like it that was not enough, the most difficult was, try to understand what people were talking to me, i did not undestand much, maybe because i was confused and nervous and unfortunately, i had to answer all the time airport worker's about directions because i was lost. Finally, i could rise the exit and my boyfriend was waiting for me there. My first arrive to Atlanta was not easy, but that was not so bad after all, because next time in whatever airport, i would be self confidence because my english is better and i will not be scared about anything . Now i get the lessons of my first experienece.

Walking alone by Atlanta

There are many things that are surprising me every day of this city, but the most significant is the fact that sometimes, this city looks like a ghost city. My reason to say that is that all the times i have been walking trough the different streets of Atlanta, i had never seen other people walking too, maybe i have seen some few persons waiting for the bus, but in a city as big as Atlanta it feelings strange. I never see people on monday or tuesday or friday, runnig to their companies or jobs, having lunch at noon or walking with their pets at the evening. On weekends i had not seen people walking too. At the beginning i was sad because i said to my self: This city is really bored, but now, i know the reason which people don't walk: Everyone has a car !. In my country, due to the big traffic, people use public transportation everyday and you can see people walking very fast and running for every place , i think is something similar like in New York. At present, i don't know what is better between a big mass of people walking and invading my space or a street alone with almost two or tree persons and me, walking quietly and free with all the city just for me.
